Hi I am currently in need of a programmer to do the following things to a copy of essence source version 0.3 which is DX7 formatted

1.PM logging system
2.Upon singup it asks for email and logs it
3.Spell cool-down system fixed (Currently just stops counting I belive and does not work.
This requires re-logging in and out to fix the problem to continue casting spells)
4. Shops made visual rather than just text based selection of fixing an item or buying.

This is all I require. Willing to pay. Please provide quotes.

To rip stuff from Essence and make it work with DX7? Won't do it for any amount of money.

Robin's a good coder and even he admits this, Essence is super sloppy and not really fit for use.

All im asking for, is for it to be fixed up and done how I want it.

Second off, I know what I'm talking about. I've BEEN ALL THROUGH THE ESSENCE SOURCE CODE. I know what's in there. I think you need to go read Joost's post about oldgen and newgen. You're supernewgen, so watch what you say to the vets of this site or you'll be ripped to shreds. A lot worse than what I just did. Consider this your first and only warnin'. Don't be a twat.

As I said before, im not really bovid and mean no offence. Just wanted to make my point.

No matter what version you speak of, Essence, is imo, sloppy. No where near as bad as Elysium or Eclipse, but sloppy nonetheless.

Robin didn't program it for it to be released. It was originally intended to only be used by him, for Wind's Whisper.

You should use MS4 anyways. Start fresh, learn to program yourself, save your money and end up with a better product at the end of the day. You can rip things from Essence, of course, but I wouldn't use Essence as a base.

I would never suggest using essence, but hell I used it way back for engines and other wierd things. And in the end it's not worth putting your effort on it. However, use essence if your not interested in learning programming but rather want to make a quick game.

And I don't program for money, but I'm pretty sure Robin still does and with better rates than those silly posts before.

Well... I attempted to contact him at a later date but I belive he changed his email so I will leave this topic open and see what becomes of it.

Those things takes less than 1 hour. But I'm sure these guys here needs 10hours hence 100usd.

To do it properly, in Essence, it's gonna take a few hours at least.

1. PM logging system 3minutes
2. email thing 5minutes
3. dunno, havnt looked at it
4. everybody knows this, takes a little more time.

But it doesn't take a few hours. It can be done correct and fairly quickly.

Jaheoo, I really suggest you don't use Essence.

Essence was made waaay before I started to learn how to structure my code, and re-use it all properly (OOP style). If you want a few features, grab a copy of MS4, the latest of course, fix up any bugs from the Bug Fix forum, then rip out a few of the features.

Essence isn't optimised, and is far too specialised to use as a base for pretty much anything, but if you have a look around the code, you can re-use a lot of it.

The fact is, there is nothing out there that is really optimised enough to use. I found essence, I tried it, It seems stable, it seems smooth, it seems reliable and it seems easy with very little programming effort required. Lets face it, its not as bad as elysium and I think I could support around 50 players on at one time with this source, yeah?

Im no programming expert and I dont have the time to waste on programming. I need a programmer, thats the short story which I dont have one.

Got the money, not got the programmer lol.
