Post subject:  Noob needs help :(
Right im just starting and want to make a game using MS ......but i got ToW source to start me off and if its anythink like player worlds i should just open the server file etc etc.

But how come with MS its not that simple and can some one plz tell me how to start my server and actually start to map ?

The "Source" in Mirage Source refers to the program code that makes up the server and client of the engine. To use this source requires an application called "Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0". Once you have that, you can compile the engine source into its separate (server and client) executable files, which then can be used to run your game.

Mirage Source, in its current form, is just a bare-bones system, and does not have all the nifty bells and whistles that you would find in Player Worlds and other pre-compiled game engines.

If you are looking for something that you can just setup and go, I recommend that you go to one of the ORPG maker sites, and download their versions. I don't have any websites, but you can easily google them.. Here are a few:
  • Player Worlds
  • Elysium

I'm sure there are others... And I'm sure, if they feel the need to, others will post additional ORPG makers for you.

If you intend to go ahead and try to use Mirage Source Engine, you will need to learn Visual Basic. And just because the name includes "Basic" does not mean that it is "easy".

And just a side note Verrigan, you should say "Elysium Source" instead of just "Elysium" because there are so many random sites online with the same name and it's easier to find it when you have the second part of the name.

Well, I wasn't specifically advertising for your version, be it the 'official' one or not.. As you said, there are so many different ones out there that I didn't want to help with the confusion. :P
