By popular demand, I will write this tutorial for Htideswell because robin is an ass.

This tutorial is a windows modification that will allow you to right click on any OCX file and register them with a context menu item. I assume you're using XP, I do not know if this will work in other versions of windows, especially Vista.

Firstly, open my computer => Tools => Folder Options => File Types

Find "OCX" in the list of file types. Click "Advanced". Click "New"

In the action box, type "Register This File With Windows" or any other title you want.
in the application box, type C:\WINDOWS\system32\regsvr32.exe "%L"

Ok out of everything, and enjoy your new context menu.

This doesn't work that easily with Vista but I did manage to find a workaround using the registry. For whatever reason Microsoft removed the GUI for editing file types this way. Boo! You can use this method with XP as well I would assume but I haven't tested it.

Warning
This is a registry edit, I have tested this code and it does work but backup your registry before continuing just in case something goes wrong.

Open Notepad and enter the following.



Click Save As.. and save it as "ocxreg.reg". Close Notepad and then double click your newly created registry file, the data will be entered into the registry and you should now see it when you right click on your ocx files. Alternatively you can do this with dlls as well the same way but with this instead.



That will not work if you have UAC enabled though.
