NarutoRealm at one point actually had a real time light render system depending on the time. It's not that hard to program, but you'll have to get a decent alpha blending routine going for it to work effectively. |

In other words of Wikipedia, its just something that changes the transparency black picbox or w-e used by the code to give it a fade and change at a certain time. Like real life, it doesnt just go from night to day :p. |

It doesn't add "fade". It scans the pixel colours of two layered objects and then creates an entirely new colour which will be shown instead of only showing the top layer's pixel colour. |

I whipped up an example source code for alpha blending a while back (and a bunch of other directx tests that I did) It's a slow process in DX7, but if you were to upgrade to DX8 it would be possible to do real-time. If you do do it in DX7, you would definantly want to multithread the rendering, and prerender the tiles while doing other things http://www.eternalflameonline.com/dxtes ... ending.rar YIKES! My domain expiered!!1@12 http://75.86.215.4/dxtest4_Alphablending.rar that will work |
