We're running Mirage Source V. 3.78, and I'm running Vista, so I can only host the server, and can't actually play my own game. My developer told me he was unable to code in a Vista fix, and told me to post a help wanted thread. E-mail sympatheticlyst@hotmail.com for more information.

YOU have to have a client with the 127.0.0.1 ip in order to connect. ;)

I do, but the game has a ton of bugs whenever I play. Like buttons not being visible, and certain things not working when they work for everyon else. I even had my Dev check it with the server files, and he ran great. I'm the only player with Vista. That's what we singled the problem down to.

Dx I didn't know that matt l:
Paradox
You don't run a client with 127.0.0.1. it has your IP.(**.***.**etc)
But, He said to Connect. And you connect fine.
So. I don't know. I just think it's a Vista problem IMHO.
Like, All of the people here are better at programming than me, Dx.

I use nothing but Vista and have never had a problem, other than not being able to connect to myself with my wan ip.

Sorry, I can't help any further.

Do you have all of the necessary dlls? By the way, you have to have UAC disabled or you have to run regsvr32 as an admin to successfully register dlls in Vista.

I don't think that's his problem.

I have all of that done. I'd take a scree shot, but it doesn't want to log onto the server at the moment. It does that sometimes. No biggy. The problem is buttons disappearing and certain things (such as teh inventory screen) Only pulling up once, then failing. And my inventory will only drop items. When I open our main menu, all I see is close menu and log off, whereas, I should see something that shows stats, Spells, and Inventory. They work except inventory, which I already described. When the inventory screen's up, nothing shows up except the screen that shows items, a white rectangle under that, and a black box that's supposed to show the item.

Click Start > Run > dxdiag

Click on display and screenshot that for us, while you're there run all the tests there too such as the DirectDraw, Direct3D, etc, etc.

Vista doesn't have run on Start btw. XD
I dunno what any of those tests are, and I posted a screenshot already.
edit: ran, no problems found.

Hold the windows key and press R. That's how you open the run box.

Or Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run

Vista's search bar on the start menu is a Run.

I know how to run. I already did. Hours ago. There were no problems.

can you try running on a non-vista computer and see if you still get these problems. Personally it seems like poor coding not a vista error.

Unless it was something already coded in, It's not something wrong with the programming..
The only coding I've done is doing shit to the mapeditor, And other than that the only thing I've done is redo the GUI.

does Vista read colors differently? Because I fixed it. I changed the BackColor of the buttons and it showed up. His client was viewing White as Black.

You probably used the system colors when picking colors for controls, and since vista is using a different theme, it showed up differently. Use the normal colors instead next time.

I wasn't being a dick, I had already stated that I ran it with no problems. Anywho, Kru fixed it, though I'm probably switching to a digfferent engine just due to the drawbacks. :l

Why? It was fixed. There are going to be drawbacks when someone else is programming for you.

Matt, in his above post he mentioned not being able to log in every other time. I would assume there are many other bugs.

They could be fixed easily. It just seems like a packet issue to me. *shrugs* If he wants to change, that's his business.
