Well, yea, I am remaking firecaster. The new version is a top down game using mouse based movement (to reduce lag). It doesn't lag like the old one, and is secure (yay). It is also going to be more of an rpg then firecaster (it is actually rising flames in gamemaker, but I own firecaser.com so I decided to use that). So my question to you is, should I release it now (with no player graphic, few spells, and potential bugs) as a beta and risk the game getting a bad reputation, or wait till later and maybe loose motivation.


A few people have played already, its pretty fun.

Wait till it's playable, then people'll stick around.

Its playable, just not done. Like when I released firecaster 1. You can still kill people and such, but there arent monsters/alot of spells yet.

Wait till you have something that people can play for a while. It's not playable if there's nothing to do.

Well yea, you can kill people. Thats about it. Idk, this is when I released firecaster last time.

@Giaken: It was, and I miss it, but it crashed with more then 3 people on.

Once it started to get popular I couldn't run it anymore because of lag. If you wana host a server though i'll give it to you.

The old Firecaster was a pretty neat side scroller.

This new one is just a top down view of circles where you have to right click where you want to move and then click where you want to fire.

It isn't really that simple. My computer simply doesn't have the power to run a pixel based sidescrolling game. I have tried many times to revamp the old firecaster, it's a lost cause. If I get time/motivation, I may make a lan/server list type version of firecaster, but it is not a top priority.


But if anyone really wants to host firecaster and they think their comp can handle it and they are ok that it is really hackable then, just ask and ill give you the server.

The first firecaster is pure crap. Not like elysium crap where maybe you can make something useful out of it, but crap like if you go near it it smells bad. If you want to try to make something out of it thats fine, but I am not touching it.
