Initially theorized mid April, BleakBox was originally to be a recreation of the RealFeel Engine using Visual Basic 6. Instead of creating a static engine that could only follow instructions programmed by smchronos and Rezeyu, a new idea began to form. Instead of making a solid engine with minor scripting support, why not make the engine completely scriptable? smchronos soon began work on constructing the basis behind this new concept, "Squint-Source." Beginning actual programming in early June of 2008 (June 4th), BleakBox was designed to allow its developers nearly complete control with minimal requirements (involving external libraries, or DLLs). The idea was to create an engine that only required libraries that it used through scripting. Not only was this geared to help reduce the size of the overall BleakBox package but also to lower the error rate of ActiveX errors and missing DLL problems.
