| Post subject: | Windows Vista & MSE |
Has anybody tested in Vista? I have installed VB and so far everything in MSE works 100% except for one minor thing which I haven't been able to figure out yet and thats the mapping. Every tile maps fine until about up to 4096px, the 128th tile down from the top and anything beyond that. What happens is that when it blts the tile it blts the bgcolor (the one thats supposed to be transparent) onto the screen as well. This is slightly puzzling to me and I decided to ask the community to see if I can get any feedback. Anybody else test on Vista and if so did you notice this? Is there a workaround? |

bleh. screw vista. i'm sure it'll get fixed in about a months time though... i think vista is due to release on the 3rd... after a cracked version gets out i'm sure you'll find more support for MSE on Vista |

Already downloaded it, I just need a DVD burner to install the thing... *cough* I seem to remember reading an article a while back that Vista will have VB6 support. I'd say "yes". |

I thought Microsoft stopped using VB6, didn't think they would want to allow it in vista |

From my knowledge, from someone who DID install Vista, VB6 has a hard time running, as in, nothing using the VB6 Runtimes worked when he did a fresh install, so aparently it will take a LOT of work to get it to work. |

Someone will make it work, even if microsoft doesn't. The VB6 Runtimes are not much more than a collection of DLLs and OCX's and ActiveX Controls. The problems (probably?) come with the Win64 API, which isnt supported with a stricktly 32 bit operating system. |

Every Windows OS is a damn CPU/RAM whore. I forgot how little '98 required in comparison to XP until I was playing around with it flawlessly on a 500mhz processor with 128mb of RAM. You can hardly get by with 128mb RAM on an XP machine, unless you don't really like to run anything but the OS. Horray for playing with the "drag outline!" |

Well Vista runs pretty well on my Core 2 Duo E6300 and 4gb of ram. And on the note of VB running on Vista, works fine on my computer and so far any of the applications I have tested out have ran minus a couple games but it is only the beta. So, VB6 runs as well as apps, MSE runs minus the tileset problem. |
