| Post subject: | Issues with day/night |
Ok I was working on programing with MS4 and back to my usual 3.0.3 and for some reason or another I am having one of those slow days; I added the daynight code from the old tuts forums to both 3.0.3 and 4 seems that I have a special moment both of them are bliting the night as a white color, kind of like fog. any help would be appreciated. (had it working fine in 3.0.3 then made some updates and had to unzip an older version of my source that did not have D&N now I have this issue) |

I used the modDirectx one, but the location of it is "c:\My Documents\DKE\Data\GFX\Night.bmp" and that is the path that is in the moddx initsurfaces. |

Does your copy of mirage have the triple buffer system? If it does, that might be the problem. I'm not 100% but I think they're might be some incompatibilities if that's the case. |

I have the standard buff from ms3.0.3. and here's the one that will not blit at all http://web.miragesource.com/old-tutorials/temporary_archive/Blue%20Day%20Night.html and here is the one that I got to work that blits out white like fog. http://web.miragesource.com/old-tutorials/temporary_archive/Tile%20Day%20Night.html By the way while I am thinking about it, I do believe I have a majority of the tuts from back in the day(some that are not around including the petMo(which sucks but) and I have a majority of the Konuze tutorials aswell. |

Hm I've never tried the first one but the Blue Night Tut is pretty straight forward. Are you getting any errors and have you tried doing the tut over? |

I have applied the tut 3 times, exactly as it says in the tut. |

Just tested it with your very own 1.4.2b source. Works fine. so it must have been something you've added since then. I have no idea why it would blit white though.. |

Not sure, but I added it the tutorial way and it comes up white when I let it pass through and when I type /daynight. I even put a blue 32x32.bmp in my graphics folder and still comes up that way....... |

I have tried both, the first one, where it blits a 640x400 or whatever it is does not work at all for me, the other one where it's tile night, does work just blits white though. |

Code: If GameTime = TIME_NIGHT And Map.BootX = 0 Then Fringe3 = 658 <--- make this a shadow tile to fringe Else Fringe3 = 0 <--- any empty black tile End If Did you change that 658 to the number of a black/almostblack checkered tile from your tile set? |

Honestly I can't remember if I changed it,, I'll have to check when I get home. Does it have to be black/almost or checkered? |

It has to be checkered, solid black, then every other pixel almost solid black. |

Sonire wrote: It has to be checkered, solid black, then every other pixel almost solid black. Does it meet this criteria? I didn't see a night tile with the tutorial I've been referring to my last couple posts. |
